I am a chocaholic", though --not regular sweet shop brands, just high quality . Much has been said in recent years, regarding the health benafits, of high cocco dark chocleate., taking this in to account , as I incedentaly have high colestarol, I have been eating mostly dark for many years now.

How ever I recently compered the fat contents, of two bars, one milk the other dark, both well known organic brands) to my suprise, the dark bar had a fat content of 41.1g whille the milk was just 29.7g.

I find this very confusing, dark, is said to be good for the heart, "so how can that be reconciled with higer fat levels?.

"Is it just good for the heart of a person, without high cholestrol .

You have good fats and bad fats!! Good fats are mono-unsaturated fats and poly-unsaturated fats. The bad fats are saturated fats and trans-fats. Although the dark chocolate has more fat it may be likely it has more good fats compared to bad fats. Milk chocolate tends to be higher in saturated fat and trans-fats than dark chocolate.

Also check when comparing the bars that you are comparing them with regards to equal amounts in weight. For instance are you looking at fat per 100g for both bars? Because obviously if one bar says so and so grams of fat per 4 squares, and the other says so and so grams of fat per 100g then obviously there will be more fat in one compared to the other due to the weight difference.

ok, so the choc bar should have a label on it telling you how many grams of fat per 100g. Then work it out on the size of bar you eat.

The bar will say how much it weighs.

Also to work out percentage of fat you need to work out the CALORIES and not the grams per product.
1g Fat= 9kcal, roughly twice that of protein or carbohydrates!

read the label on the back that says saturated fat and see how many grams it has?
