My face is swollen from my wisdom tooth to the corner of my mouth. My gland under my chin isn't very tender any more, but my cheek is huge! Dr says it's normal for some people to experience this. When will the swelling go away? Will I need different antibiotics to clear this up? HELP!!!

I recently had a tooth abscess and I had a lot of swelling similar to yours. I started the penicillin on Monday and I Thursday I had the tooth extracted because it couldn't be saved with a root canal. I was still swollen on Thursday before they pulled the tooth. Once it was out, though, the swelling really diminished.
The dentist said that the swelling could last several days to a week.

The antibiotics are doing their job if the pain is gone. Now you need to put warm compresses on the area to increase blood circulation and take away swelling. Drink lots of liquids so that you make the kidneys flush out the swelling.

I had two of my wisdom teeth out at once and I was sick for 5 days. The swelling was almost gone at the end of the week.
