My husband says that when he sneezes he's been seeing silver flakes or sparkles. Has this happened to anyone else? Because he thinks he now has brain cancer (he's extreme like that). But is it something else??

That happens to me. It is just his body tryin to re-equalize itself. Tell him to think of it as a "we're having technical difficulties" message from his brain. As long as he doesn't feel faint for a long period after a sneeze he is okay. (Oh, and why do men ALWAYS jump to the most extreame conclusions. Too funny.)

Aactually thats due to the temporary increace in intracranial pressure. The pressure in his head spikes for a moment and causes compression of the optic nerve causing it to transmit the pressure as 'vision' to the brain. Aside from having his blood pressure checked, there most often a problem with this, though do have that checked. Be well.

Does he wear glasses? Have an astigmatism? I do, and I often see "Trailers" or "sparks" when I sneeze or cough real hard. My eye doctor says that it is not unusual, especially when the astigmatism is really bad, like mine. Have hubby get a full opthamalogical work up.

It's probably like a head rush. I'm sure it's nothing. If he had brain cancer he'd have other symptoms like change in personality, loss of sight or hearing, headaches... etc. If he is really concerned he should see a doctor :)
