none of the local feed and tractor stores with in 4 hours from my home have ducklings. i really want just 2 or 3 and the big reliable farms like metzer farms only ship ten or more ducks. So, do you know any reliable breeders that will ship 2 or 3 ducklings???

There is no such thing as a reliable breeder who will ship just 2 or three ducklings. This is because they will almost certainly die due to hypothermia, if they do not have mum, an artificial heat source (heat lamp) or other ducklings to huddle up with.

Try asking around and you will probably find a breeder who lives near you and doesn't advertise - the best ones don't need to advertise because they get a lot of recurring custom. Any reputable breeder will also help you with your questions.

http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/BRKHatcheries.html
This site lists nearly every hatchery in the U.S.A. There are a few who will ship just a couple of a species though it is more costly to do so.
Also it depends on what type of duck you are desiring the rarer the species the less you have to order. Also you have to look for which types of ducks are considered fliers.I believe Privetts hatchery in New Mexico may take a small order like that.Or try cackle hatchery in Lebanon Missouri.I have dealt with both. They have high standards and a good flock.Depending on the month and expected temperatures will depend on when shipping is recommended for such a small order still it will be costly.being most don't start hatching ducks till may it might not be much of an issue. Also you may wish to check on buying a adolescent pair rather then ducklings.

No, i don't know of any. They all need to ship larger quantities because the birds must huddle together to keep warm and 10 birds is not enough. This company will at least mix and match the species so you don't have to purchase all ducks. http://www.meyerhatchery.com/

if you can't get a smaller shipment, see if you can find someone local that wants a few ducks as well and you can go in together and purchase them.

I don't know what area you live in, but Easter is fast approaching, and usually there are ducks, bunnies, and chicks galore to be found. I'd call my county extension agent (look in the phone book) or contact your local 4-H person; they may know of a local farmer who keeps ducks. If you have a neighbor with a farm (and a pond) you may sweet talk him/her into ordering a dozen or so ducks, letting you keep one out for yourself. Good luck, be responsible with your pet.

Most feed stores don't get chicks or ducklings in until the beginning of April. Maybe you should check back with them.
