English is my second language. I was reading Erich Segal's "Love Story" in English, and they use that word there. I also heard people use that word in context, so I have an idea of the meaning, but I just can't find any synonyms. I found the meaning in my first language, Russian. Please, help me find synonyms in English. :-)))

"Bozo" was the name of a famous clown on television in the 1950. Had a kid's show and was also featured in cartoons about him. He was very stupid and annoying as a character. So the word "bozo" has come to mean someone who is really stupid.

It means a clown, a person who is incompetent, less than desirable. It is an insult. But often accurately describes what you think of a person without getting into vulgar wording.
