There could be some underlying problems as well. You need to speak to his doctor regarding that. My little one has been in speech since she was 3 because of some major speech issues. I thought it was never going to change, then we switched speech path and wham, it clicked at the age of 6. They are going to discharge her from speech because she is doing so well now. Not sure if it was the first person (maybe she didn't like her well enough) or the second person (drew her out somehow?), but whatever it was, it worked. Good luck to you guys though, I know it's frustrating.

You've been doing speech therapy for 3 yrs and no one has gave you an idea of what's going on?!?! Either you aren't listening or you are getting ripped off. Talk to your pediatrician, find a new service. You should have at least been given a diagnosis by now or a referral some place else.

Get his hearing checked. I was lip reading to get by until age 6, until it was discovered I had immature eustachean (I'm sorry if that's spelt wrong!) tubes, which is why I wasn't picking up on correct prnounciation and sounds. This can be corrected with a simple operation. Chat to your doctor. Good luck :-)

Call your pediatrician. If your son has been to speech and that didn't help, your doctor needs to know. They can guide you in the right direction and help you get the assistance that you need.

Call your school department. They will screen him. If they find there is a problem they will guide you. Most school districts have there own speech therapists!
