It is less than 2 years!! Not only is it not too long to wait, it is ideal. It will give you a great chance to put your relationship to the test of time. Marriage is a rugged thing, not for the squeamish, and anyone who says it is about nothing except love, has his/her head up his/her butt.
In the next 2 years you can save money for the wedding and honeymoon and buying a house and your kids college educations. And for any unforseen circumstances too. And secure the venue you want for the wedding. Halls, churches, caterers can be booked years in advance. And for a Valentine's Day wedding, they will be even more heavily in demand, and you will have that time to plan it all. Have fun!!!

If you love him wait but why not 2/14/2008. Weddings don't always have to be on a Saturday although it is more convenient to those attending. I'd change the date. Not getting married on Valentine's Day won't make it any less memorable. Why not on the day you met or the day of your first kiss, etc. Congrats!

I wouldnt want to wait almost 2 years for my wedding...I still have a year to go before the big day and its killing me! But there are plenty of people who are engaged for years before they get married.
Just a thought: have you considered a destination wedding? Next valentines day is on a Thursday...but if its a destination wedding it really doesnt have to be on a Saturday. Have people come in on Wednesday, get married on Thursday, and party/celebrate the weekend away in some place fabulous! Just a thought.
Congrats on your engagement!!

If getting married on Valentines Day is what you truly want, then wait for it ... just remember that vendors will ALWAYS raise prices on holidays and special occasions.
That means that your flower cost just jumped by 3 or 4 times normal cost ... the catering will probably come at a premium price as well. Reception sites are going to be in high demand and you might not get the venue that you're looking for ...

If it means so much to you to get married on Valentines day on a Saturday, then yeah :D Wait it out, its not that long. Most people after they get engaged wait at least 2/3 years before getting married anyways, so its all cool :D
Oh and congrads! :)

Oh hun, it's totally worth it!!! There's nothing wrong with being engaged for two years and getting married then. Nothing wrong at all. I know people who are engaged for a lot longer than that, and still say it's worth it.
I wish you the best of luck and congratulations!!! =]

That is fine as long as that is what you both want. My fiance and I will be engaged almost 3 years when we get married. It will be 2 years and 10 months. If it is what you want then do it. Its you wedding and it will be your anniversary from then on.

Not at all. If that is the date you really want, go for it. Also, remember that you don't have to get married on a Saturday. For most wedding venues and "accessories" (aka flowers, limos, etc) you can get them dirt cheap for a wedding held on a Sunday or weekday.

That's fine; you will have plenty of time to save up and plan.
Though do make sure you reserve the church/wedding site and reception hall very early on since that may be a popular pick for a wedding day.

Well you can definitley say that all your "i"s will be dotted and your "t"s crossed, you will have alot of time to be really organized. If it were me though, no, I wouldnt wait that long. I would want to get our lives started together sooner rather than later and postponing for a certain date wouldnt be a good enough reason for me to hold off.
