If i have been wrongly accused of something in the past and its held on the PNC, can i appeal it and have it taken off my records?

You could try contacting the agency that entered the information, do a public records request for the incident report that included your information. Try to speak with the detective/officer that completed the report and bring your proof that you are not that person. Unless you have irrefutable proof or that officer actually remembers arresting the person who was not you and believes just from meeting you; be prepared for a difficult fight.

You may need to consult an attorney to attempt this. They would probably have to file something through the court system to demand this.

In the US, all info is held in the NCIC national data base, but it only holds info given to it by courts and police departments.

So if a certain court issues something not true, you will have to file in that court, ( not file against the data base) to have thier records corrected if not correct.
