as the bible was written by so many different people, they could have all been of there faces on drugs yes it sounds ridiculous right? but substaces were around in those days and they would not know what it was so..they would like the feeling and carry on doing or taking what ever they had found! so hilusinations as such does seem like a possible solution to some of the things written in the bible as we all know some of the events that was said to happen would never in this life ever occur ..unless you are off your head on drugs!

@Reverend Red Mage, it wasn't Paul who wrote Revelation, but John of Patmos (a Greek island). However you're right that it does seem to have been written while under the influence of something. Douglas Adams' suggestion was that he was over-indulging in the local retsina.

The most ridiculous part of the bible is the new testament which was written 30 years after jesus died. things get changed from day to day when a story is told, it gets exagerated and made up to make it sound better or worse. Imagine 30 years of this when about 1 in a 1000 people could write and sum of it was in different languages or different versions of language. And then add another 2000 years on that where languages and slang terminology have changed so much.

Obviously you have done Zero research on the Bible and it's authors. Since the finding of the dead Sea Scrolls, it has been found that he Old Testament is the most accurately recorded book in history. There have been mistakes made in translation from the original Aramaic and Hebrew, but we are now learning enough about the ancient languages to correct most of them. Moses is credited with the first five books of the Bible and we know that writing existed before his time from ancient clay tablets found in the ruins of Cities in Iraq, such as Ur, that existed before his time.

Yeah sure, I guess it could have been that way, but being that I have experienced the power of God's Word in my life, I know that it did not come from "stoners." The fact that it had so many different authors over thousands of years, and yet holds it's reliablility and prophetical nature only adds to its mystery. It is interesting to note the extent people will go to to try to dis-credit it though, and good luck with that; people alot smarter than you have been trying a long time...

HI
The first author of the bible was Moses but the scriptures says the bible was written with God's finger Luke 11:20 I am sure there were drugs around in hose days but the bible was written with God's spirit and a person has to be clean in everyway to recieve this gift.

Sure. The Bible is the best selling work of fiction ever written. Each generation re-writes their own version to suit their social beliefs at that time. Who knows what the Bible originally said. There were very old scriptures found in the possession of a nomad, but he had used half of them as fire wood so only a few of them remained. I guess we shall never know.

The true Revelations from God are done through purified people. the original texts were true and pure but with times things changed. Why would god create a pure message and then allow it to be put together by people who are out of their mind? It would defeat the objective, a total waste of time.

I don't believe that the authors of the bible were on drugs BUT...what difference would it make?

Would it make the Psalm any less beautiful?
Would it make the story of Noah any less miraculous?
Would it make the 12 Tribes suddenly be 8 Tribes?

There is so much to think about, I wouldn't waste a minute worrying about this.........
