I think they should be given a choice to be honest of either jail time or service and go through the proper channels of training such as selection, Phase1 and Phase2 and if they get through that i'd be happy to serve with them because normally after training what ever attitude problems you would have had would of been wiped away or you would get kicked out. It changed me and I nearly went towards the south london gun culture life and now im just a regular chap who understands discipline but also understands where such people come from.

Its against the law for any soldier (Active or Reserve component) convicted either of a domestic violence or weapons violation to "bear arms". The act is known as the Lautenburg Act/Amendment. Law is very specific and soldiers convicted of the violation are considered non-deployable, then taken off the rolls.

No way. They would start to shoot their way out. The Army instructs you to handle weapons correctly and only use them when absolutely necessary. Do you know that rifle bullets cost the Government a£1 each.

Gun crime is not an issue for the military it should be life in prison.

If they can hit a target from 300-440-meters with a single shot... DRAFT THEM. If thet need a mac-10 or an Uzi to spray 40 rounds to hit one target (and a shitload of innocent bystanders), draft them anyway and make them a cook, of a shitburner, or something.

No lol.
doing that may cause the criminals to kill innocent citizens in other countries.
It would also cause miss trust with his/her army colleagues.
Not only that it is illegal (in the UK.)
the army should also not be seen as a punishment.

If you think that the Army would welcome these criminals you don't know much about the Army. The only place for these people is prison or, better still, killed by their own kind.

the United States Armed Forces make up 1% of Americans.

We live in small communites and depend on each other to help us when times are rough, spouses are deployed and we feel like we just can't deal.
We have had quality of life prgrams cut and school programs and personnel cut thanks to congress and now you want to fill our bases with criminals !?

My kids and I have enough to worry about wondering if their Daddy is going to come home alive, please don't make me terrified of my neighbors as well. they are our support in times like this.
