Did the cops show up because you killed the dog? Did the owners of the dog call the cops on you? Is there a leash law in your area? If there is a leash law, the dog owners should be in trouble for not restraining their dog and cats are not bound by the law, because cats don't need leashes.
I'm sorry. My 3 cats are like my children and if anything happened to them I would be devestated.

I'm so sorry! This happened to my cat also. I had just moved in with my boyfriend. The neighbors dog tore her into pieces. I never forgave either of them.(The neighbor or his dog. Fortunately they have since moved). If I could have I'd have killed the dog with my bare hands. My Munchkin was a kind and innocent soul. She never hurt anyone or anything in her life. Again, I'm sooooooo sorry for your loss!

i know how awful it is to lose a pet to a stupid animal. I mean my rabbit escaped and on the lawn i saw her with a fox helping himself to her insides. I was devastated and smack the fox with a baseball bat to get it to leave. I would have done the same thing as you but it wont bring them back. Still all you should do is give them a little smack to show then they did wrong because there is no point in killing the dog for trying to follow its stupid instincts!

I am so sorry, you may try to persue action against the owner of the dog if you know who it is, but I know it wont replace your cat.
