I keep seeing questions along the lines of "Shouldn't public schools teach evolution AND creation rather than being biased towards evolution?".

You see, to me this is a flawed statement. If you are biased towards evolution you are basically biased towards modern science (not the "evolution religion" that people keep pretending it to be) and in modern schools that teach modern science (as opposed to outdated science) surely a bias towards modern science is preferred?

On top of this, if a school were to teach Creation as an alternative then surely this would be a bias towards a religion and therefore be unconstitutional, no? And, if a school were to be unbiased in any way, would they have to say that all information they teach as an absolute fact (including Maths, History, etc) may be disputed and other alternatives may exist.

What are your opinions? Please, no answers along the lines of "evolution is a lie and shouldn't be allowed in public schools!" Thanks.

The scientific method is important. So is learning that there are different theories for things.

How many of us were taught any of the multiple theories surrounding mass and velocity?

I was taught Einstein in High School. We never once touched on any other theory, or even the FACT that Einstein's theory was only a theory, not a fact.

How many of us were taught that Gravity is only a theory, not a fact?

Einstein's theories on Relativity, Gravity and Evolution have become educational Gospel and that is the worst thing that can happen. It is indicative of a closed minded society when these theories are accepted blindly as FACTS.

Science isn't all bad. If we didn't have science we wouldn't have most of the things we have today. Medicine, the engine, forced air heat, microwaves, I could go on.
The first part of your question makes sense, but after that you loose me. Just because you are biased against evolution does not mean you are biased against science. There is a lot more to science than evolution. I don't think it has to do with absolute facts at all. Math is pretty absolute as is most sciences. Quite honestly, if one is taught in school, then so should the other one. (evolution and creationism) They are both theories, so what is the harm really. It should be up to the child to decide what they want to believe anyways.

I am a Christian, I do not think that Creationism should be taught in school. It is religion. I also do not think that evolution should be taught as a undeniable fact. It is not. It really does not stand up to the basic standards of scientific theory. It is a hypothesis. What the problem is that it is taught as a fact of science, as if it has been proven at every step, and there is not a shred of doubt as to how it happened. Any one that looks at it objectivily can see that is not true. Evolutionists fight amongst themselves over how they believe life evolved. If is is a fact they should know without dispute. If they want to say that it is the leading hypothesis of scientists at this time I have no problem with it. I will teach my children what I believe about religion.

I agree. The public schools aren't telling peopl to not believe what they believe. They have science classes, such as Biology. They teach evolution in there because evolution is a biological theory. If they taught creatinism, then it wouldn't be bioloby.

I think that if you are at a public school then there should be no obligation to teach creation, religion etc. That is why there are Christian, Jewish and schools of religion. In a public school these teachings are not necessary!
