listen to your heart. it will tell you how. don't mind what other people will think, say or do. don't bother with logic because there isn't any.
loving is SELFLESS. it's putting your happiness of your love ones before your own. it's seeing them happy makes you happy. it's letting go even though it will hurt like hell to do so.
loving is UNCONDITIONAL, ABSOLUTE. you don't love because he/she's kind, sweet, thoughtful... you should also love his/her imperfections. you don't love because you need the person but its the other way around. you need the person because you love him/her. you don't love because you expect to be loved in return. you just love unconditionally.

Love what ? A clear answer is possible only when the question is clear? Love has a braoder perspective than may be what you really intended to know. Love yourself - then you will be graduated to love better.

I think your question is not expantiative enough but what i think you should to love is start loving yourself first then you love someone else.
Love is the sweetest thing enjoyable if practiced the sweetest way.
So you need to be natural for you to feel the emotional attachment.
