Darcy always calls to mind a girls name, because I am thinking of Married with Children, the neighbor Darcy. Of course more educated may know Pride & Prejudice Mr. Darcy. I think it is just one of those names that could go either way! I would not name my kid Darcy just because in America people will probably recognize married with children before jane austen.

Darcy â
Transferred use of the Irish surname, originally a Norman baronial name (d'Arcy) borne by a family who came from Arcy in northern France. It has always retained a somewhat aristocratic flavour, which has enhanced its popularity as a given name. It is the surname of the hero of Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice (1813). Use as a girl's name is confined mainly to North America.
I have to say I'm not keen on the name either for a boy or a girl but hey! who am I to comment!

We looked at Darcy for a girls name although it can be a boys name too but I was always a little bit against it for a boys name so it made it onto the girls list. 2 baby boys later its still on the girls list!

For me it is a boys name that is acceptable as a girls name. I was going to call my boy Darcy, till someone mentioned he would be called Arsey Darcy. Not such a problem in the states where they say *** instead of ****.

Darcy is a girls name and its awful. The neighbour in the tv show " married with children " was called darcy, if youve seen the show, you'll understand why it would be criminal to name your child that.

This girl's and boy's name is used in English. It originated as a surname for some of the Norman barons who invaded Ireland after the conquest of England in 1066. Spelled d'Arcy, it identified them as hailing from a place in Northern France called

I would say a girls name (Darcy Bussell is a famous ballerina), not sure what it means but is it derived from Jane Austen's Mr Darcy ?
I wouldn't use it because it doesn't go with my surname, but this is just my personal opinion.

It's a boy or girl name. I almost called my son Darcy but I ended up putting it in as his middle name(it was my grandfathers name).
