I've heard it's true coz your metabolism slows down and your body stores it as fat and can't break it down.

Please give honest opinion or actual facts as me and work mates are arguing about this...

yea its true because the less time you have to work off food you've eaten the more its going to be stored because after 8 its likely that you're just going to relax, whereas eating at say 5.30 you might be more active after. i personally eat at about 7, because i think 5.30 is way to early

Lots of people say its true but I think its more up to our individual metabolism, I've been on a really good diet since the end of January and lost 19lb so far and every single night without fail I eat a health bar and a piece of fruit at 9 pm because it stops me eating the things I shouldn't do like bars of chocolate and crisps, if your going to snack after 8 pm do it on fruit or very low fat things and that way you should be fine.

It depends on when you go to bed but the rule of thumb I live by is no carbs after 6pm. So I have protein and vegetables in the evening but no rice, pasta, bread etc.

Carbs have a lot of energy in them and very few people are very active after 8pm at night so you will not burn off the energy which means your body will save it as fat for another day. You also sleep better if you don't have carbs late at night.

It's nothing to do with your metabolism, it's that your energy needs slow down because you usually spend the evening sitting, and then go to bed. So the theory is that what you eat after that time is stored rather than being used. It makes sense.
Some people say after 6pm, I guess it depends on your lifestyle.
If you're going clubbing til 2am, then you will be using plenty of those calories!
And get on with your work before you get spotted! You won't be using any calories sat on your sofa unemployed...

I heard that some people don't eat after 12. Yeah, I've heard that the body digests better before midday. I may not know how and why, but I did get a website that talks about eating times.

They say that eating midnight snacks are fine......
But the people who don't eat after 12 were healthier......

hello its not actually bad but if your eating alot before u go to bed your body is not burning any of the food and so u might put on weight but it realyy depends on the person I mean i would have dinner at 7 and have a few snaks before bed but then i do a lot of walking during the day. eating heavily before u go to bed for a long period of time might have an affect on ur body

It is not 'bad' . It depends on what you need it for and your own bodyclock.

I reccommend my clients to eat some high protein low fat food before bed as this helps to stop any breakdown of lean muscle mass during the night. It does not necessarily get layer as fat!

You are absolutely correct. In the evening you are less active so the calories do not burn off and you will gradually put on weight. Ideally main meal should be eaten mid day for best effect.

I always thought it was because you shouldnt go to bed on a full stomach. Not eating after 8 it pretty logical if this is the case.

I am not sure, but I do not eat after 4:30, but I have to get up at 1am. I think all depends on what time you go to bed.
