I have a stye on my left eye. I've been reading up about them, and all the websites I've been on talk about the styes being on the eyelid or beneath it. But, I think mine is actually behind my eyelid facing into my eye. Is that normal? I've tried heating a wet washcloth in the microwave and putting it on for ten minutes, but that just hurts. Although, it has taken the swelling away a little bit. Do all these alternatives work, like gold rings and milk?

Also, I'm a varsity cheerleader, so I'd like it to go away as soon as possible, because I have a game soon, and I have to wear make up for it, but I've been told not to.

The answer is yes some of these styes do appear in the area you referred to. You can get a special antibiotic ointment from your GP or perhaps the pharmacist can help. I have heard it said that styes are the result of the body being under stress and low in vitamins. I don't think the milk and gold ring idea has any validity. The main thing is you don't go proding it with anything as you could cause an infection. A tiny bit of salt in boiling water allowed to cool may help if you rinse the eye out with that. I would not go putting a wash cloth near it because the cloth could contain soap residue which may irritate the eye even further. Good luck.

Oddly enough gold rings do work (lick the ring first)
Apparently it's something to do with minute particles of gold.
You used to be able to buy a product called Golden eye ointment that actually contained gold. Don't know if you still can ( or if they changed it) but all I've ever done is rub the old wedding ring on it and it goes away.
Good luck

Go see your eye doctor. You may not have a sty at all but a thing called a Chalazion. Your doctor can tell you exactly what you have and will have medicine or advice that will help you. A warm to hot cloth held on the eye will help, too, just make sure it isn't too hot. DON"T PUT IT IN THE MICROWAVE, YOU'LL BURN YOUR SKIN! Good luck.
