I would agree with you but I would also suggest that the government is the one who treats them worse than anyone.

I'll give you evidence, my husband was aboard the USS Cole when it was attacked in Oct. 2000, my father told his employer that he was going to take off work (his own vacation time) to take me out to meet his plane home (on Nov.3 2000) he was told why he was so concerned that every one on the Cole were already taken off with in a few days after the attack. Wrong! My husband stayed on that dead ship from Oct.12 to about Nov.1 and he was one of the last to be taken off her. But every on in 2000 just didn't care if it didn't happen to them, and I don't know if that has changed since 9/11.
My husband also earned the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his actions that day, but it took him almost five years to get it(that is disrespect from the government). Disrespect can be found every where; Hollywood, News, DC, and everyday people. We should thank all people who serve because they defend and fight for our freedom.
I am a Navy veteran
My father is a Navy veteran
My husband is a Navy veteran
My father-in-law is a Navy veteran
My grandfather was an Army veteran
-And if one of my four children want to go in the service one day I would be proud.
There is no shame in serving your country.

My son is a Marine and when he returned from Iraq from both of his deployments, he was always treated with total respect from everyone around him. When he flew home to meet us, the pilot automatically upgraded him to First Class upon learning he was a Marine! So many people came up to us in the airport and thanked him and shook his hand. At a restaurant we had our family's dinner completely paid for by an anonymous stranger that said to be sure and tell my son, THANK YOU FOR HIS SERVICE!
I have heard so many similar stories of so many of our service members---I truly believe that most people in this country DO RESPECT OUR TROOPS, whether they agree with Bush or not.

My husband is a Marine and came home a few months ago. He has been treated with nothing but respect. Even those who oppose the war tend to treat him well and express their thanks. Of course there will always be those few who blame the troops for the war that they have no choice in fighting. But it's not the majority, and I think most of the returning troops know to just ignore them and not let it get to them.

What if you were a German during WWII? Would you have respected your nation's soldiers? Would you have blindly assumed that they were fighting for your freedom?
We're not talking about conscription here, these people chose to fight. What possible reason could there be to respect that choice?

While I agree with you, and while this sounds sick, these same solders that are slammed has fought for the people to have the right to do it. Right or wrong it is our freedom to express our pleasure or displeasure that make our country great. Thank God for these brave men and woman, it is not fair but it is right. .

Soldiers are paid to kill and think. They have shown by their service they are willing to be targets and kill.
Less evidence supports the reasonable and rational thought process. No soldier in Iraq is fighting for freedom. They fight to allow Halliburton and Bush Inc to cheat the USA and mislead the way to another mass murderous war.
Soldiers should object and should not serve in the killing fields when ordered to murder foreign people in their own homes and foreign families in their own homes.
No excuses for following orders, no respect for armed mercenaries.

You are 100 % right!
I agree with you wholeheartedly, and people who slam service personnel are ungrateful ,slimy bums!
Let THEM stand on the firing line, just ONE day! Let us see how these bums fare!
