How about using a hotel or the like that is registered to hold civil ceremonies - the buildings can be much nicer than some ugly registry offices... Some places you can get married outside in the grounds. If you contact a registry office they might have a list of registered places or you could probably find out with an internet search. Good luck - I hope you find something...

It is a bit of a trek for you I think if you are in Birmingham but I do know someone who lives in Leicester and travels to work here so I'm posting this anyway just in case.
Newbury Register office (where we are getting married next month) is actually in the grounds of a 16th century mansion in a little village. We are very lucky that this is our local register office, otherwise it would have been just like a normal office with a desk and a chair.
You can have photos taken in the grounds (there was sword fighting there in the Civil War) and King Charles I stayed there in the 1600s. Check it out. Not sure how long it would take you to get there though but it is really beautiful.

Warwick! It's a beautiful town and the registry office is amazing! It's in a really big old house, the room has patio doors that open out onto the private gardens where you have photos taken afterwards. I'm getting married there in the summer. The number is 01926 494269
Good Luck!

Have you thought about tying the knot in a place which is licenced for marriages as opposed to a 'registry office'?. Lot of nice little country hotels are licenced, all you do is arrange for the registrar to attend. No travelling involved after the ceremony as you could have your reception there as well.

How about Leicester..?
Leicestershire Register Office
Leicester Road Leicester Leics
LE3 8RN
Tel: 01162656565
Fax: 01162656585

The registry office is set back away from all main roads, and has beautiful landscaped gardens, and very picturesque.

There is a very local hotel, which is quite modern and got good reviews on Trip Advisor Leicester Central Premier Travel Inn. Its £50 per room per night if you still Fri-Sun. £56 Mon-Thurs.

There is a lovely park called Bradgate Park, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradgate_Park http://www.planetware.com/leicester/bradgate-park-eng-lc-brad.htm

Well, i hope that has given you some ideas...
Good luck

I know Dudley is meant to be nice, set in some nice gardens good for the pics.
I live in Wolverhampton, and the registry office we have here is right by a ring road not very picturesque.
Good luck in finding what your looking for.
