Although I am not ready to adopt another Dalmation yet since I have an elderly rescue Dally at home who needs my full attention. It would be nice to know what my options are so i have a list of people to contact in the future when i am ready for another Dalmation instead of accidently stumbling onto one at the local animal control shelter since they are very uncommon here.

I don't know if this will help. You might get a hold of some rescue places and let them know what you are interested in at a later date, that way when they have something come in they can contact you and let you know in case you are ready. Try going under pet finders.com and put your location. Good Luck

I had never heard of Brookings or SD, but a quick google search found:
Animal Shelter Brookings
Western Avenue, P.O. Box 270
brookings, South Dakota 57006
Phone: 605-697-6387

They should know. PS If you're googling dalmatians make sure you spell it properly, with an "a" not "o". Common mistake!

Most AKC recognized breeds will have a national breed organization that will in turn have a website, and breed specific rescue information. In your case the website is http://www.thedca.org/rescue.html .

I hope you find a nice dog...I have had two shelter dogs and recommend it highly...you can find a dog to suit your lifestyle and personality, and usually they are already trained, etc. They make fabulous pets. Good luck!
