I am a 20 year old female, very layed back person. I do not know what color to paint my small bedroom. I was thinking browns, tans, and beige but I have brown furniture, does that match? i was thinking of painting two walls a dark red, like maroon, and leaving the other walls white(with the window, and the wall the window faces) and just using black furniture. i want black iron furniture, I also want to have shelves with little african figures, they're black, I dont know what i should or shouldnt do so i wanted some advice before I start working on this room. PLEASE HELP (Also if i paint dark red I would get rid of the brown furniture and gradually buy black furniture

Hi,
What I would do is paint your room a coral/reddish/salmon color color on three walls and on the 4th wall, I would use a creamy beige color such as Navaho White from Benjamin Moore. Or you can use a creamy beige color on three walls and the coral/reddish/salmon on the 4th wall. It is up to you. If you are not sure, go to a good paint store in your area, and buy small little bottles of the paint color you like and just put it on the wall. They have that now. It is the newest thing. Also get paint chips that are available in all paint stores and bring them home and scotch tape to walls. Then you can actually see if you like those colors. For the furniture and accessories you have chosen, this color will pop and give your bedroom a liveliness and zest. Don't do browns, tans, etc, that is too blah...Then I would buy coordinating comforter and curtains, of your choice. What you could do if you are going with the African theme, get a black fur throw for your bed. That would be dynamite. Then buy throw pillows in the coral/salmon/beige/maybe olive green as your 3rd color. That would tie the room together. Window I would use a simple venetian blind and a simple valance on the top. Good Luck

Good Day
First I would go to a paint store and talk to a clerk. If you have a picture of your room with you that would help. I would not use a dark colour unless the room is big. You will what to pick a wall and make it your eye catching wall. I wouldn't use a lot of dark colour if you want dark furniture and black figures. Take some colour samples home a tape them to the walls and have a look. Some paint stores can show you on their computer what the colours will look like on walls and trim. Good Luck.

I would not paint a small room dark as it will make it look much smaller. Lighter colours in a small room make the room look much larger than it is. I would do light walls ( I don't mean white) and use the furniture you have as the accent colour. You can add small figurines in black and they will stand out again the lighter colour of the walls. You want your collection to pop and draw the eye. I would also try to find a piece of art, maybe with the African theme, that has lots of bright colours in it. The colours will pop and stand out and can be the focal point in the small room. You could also add a large mirror and it will make the room look larger.
Good luck on your renovation of your room!

Since you say you have a small bedroom I would paint out the whole thing in a cream color ...even the ceiling and do the woodworking in white. This will make your room look larger ...dark colors will emphasize it's smallness. Also ...your mixtures of black and brown and beige will blend beautifully and you can jazz it up with some tribal colored bedspread, throw pillows and rugs ! It will be beautiful .
