I get so embarassed about how much I can eat. I'm not a big person (5ft 3in & 9 1/2 stone). I feel like such a pig when I eat, not with table manners or anything (although I do enjoy eating food with my fingers sometimes - things like chicken and ribs, not, like, baked beans or anything!) Example - last night I had 1/2 a chicken, baked potato, carrots, cabbage and corn on the cob. Would you be embarassed to be seen out with someone who had the appetite of a cougar? I don't think I have a problem or anything, but I do feel bad when I see other women tucking into just a salad!

Like you, I'm a small girl. Also like you, I LOVE to eat - and I've got a pretty healthy appetite, too! My co-workers tease me all the time about how much I eat and how small I am. It doesn't bother me much anymore.

My advice? Don't sweat it. Most women would kill for your metabolism! Eat, drink and be merry!

If it's REALLY a concern for you, one thing you can do is slow down when you're eating. I mean, make a conscious effort to chew each bite of food 100 times. It takes your brain about 20 minutes to get the message from your stomach that it's full. Slowing down when you eat will allow your brain to get the message sooner - when you've eaten less. But that's an awful lot of effort when the pasta's soooo good! =) That's about the best advice I can give you.

But at the end of the day, I say have seconds if you want them!

There is nothing wrong with having a big appetite. Some people can eat all the want without it effecting their body while others can hardly eat at all without putting on weight. It is very well possible that those women around you need to be careful about what they eat in order to stay in shape. Some people also use up more energy than others and hence need more food. A very active person needs more than a person who sits all day long.

Don't be ashamed of your appetite. As long as it doesn't risk your health just go ahead. There's no reason why you should be hungry to please others. I wouldn't mind being seen out with someone like you. Just be happy we're not all the same. How boring would the world be if everyone was the same? :)

You must have a good metabolism... I think you should assess how much you eat by the work you do. Don't worry about people thinking you eat too much. If you eat a lot you've probably earned the right.

I think you must either have a rapid metabolism, or you exert yourself a lot physically. Do you have a field job in which you have to sweat it out and do a lot of physical hard work? Do you play a lot of sports everyday? If this is the case then I advise you to pay no attention to what others think, and eat whatever you need. You might need a lot of food for your work, so it isn't sensible to cut down on your appetite in such a situation.

If physical exertion is not the case, and you lead a sedentary life with little exercise, then you might want to watch your diet. People might seem small, but the amount of fat and cholesterol they take in does matter in the long run. Add a lot of fruits and vegetables to your diet. In a meal their proportion should always be greater. Instead of three heavy meals a day, eat four light meals split equally through the day. That way you can have a rein on your appetite. :)

Eating little isn't cool or fashionable... my friends and I pig out like hell when we're out together, but its your daily intake you need to watch. If you think you've done enough work so that that much food is safe for you, then you must eat that much. Don't worry about what people will think about how much you eat.. it's YOUR stomach and YOUR body. Only you can determine what you need.. So take care... :)

To me you sound like a girl that just enjoys her food, which I think is a good thing to see. I feel that everything that you eat just needs to be in moderation, just so that you do not become a binge eater. As long as you do not consume a large quaitiy of food on a regular basis I think you will be fine.

I dont think that you should be bothered if people eat more or less than you, if someone chooses to eat a tiny salad instead of 1/2 a chicken then that is their choice and their business. Food is to be eaten, not looked at. Take care

It might be fashionable to act anorexic for women, but it's not any healthier or more normal than a good appetite. In fact it's totally abnormal. If you feel good and are the weight you wish to be, just laugh it off and say you're lucky you've got such a fast metabolism that you never gain weight. Then the "salad ladied" will be a bit jealous over you and you won't have to feel like a pig.

I used to be able to eat like a horse. I would order food in restaurants like I was 3 people. The skinny, anorexic waitresses always looked at me like I was nuts, and were amazed when they took away empty plates.

It sounds like you're eating a very sensible diet, plenty of veggies. As long as you aren't gaining weight, relax. If you are at a business dinner, where you need to impress someone, you may want to eat before you get to the dinner, then you can 'fit in' with the other women picking at a salad, and not be starving yourself. But, then again, maybe not. I don't mind watching a healthy woman enjoy a good meal as much as I do.

that's not big love lol. 9 stone 9 1/2 stone is normal weight for alot of people sweet heart, don't feel bad if you happy then DONT CHANGE. i would how ever advise you to eat smaller portions with more veg fruits and nuts. if you have a big appetite id advice eating small snacks in between meals like i said nuts or fruit , veg that way when it comes you your meals you wont feel that hungry and youl be eating the same as you normally do but looks less. but other wise dont worry about it be happy,

Do NOT be embarassed by that!!!!!! And those women you see just eating a salad probably gorge themselves on junk food when no one is looking. Most men actually prefer a woman with a healthy, normal appetite rather than a nitpicky, always on a diet woman.

I am the same, I always order more than men and eat way more then them. I am very slim but just have a high metabolism. Women are just jealous that you can eat so much and not putt weight on.
