Absolutely, you are still giving them all the calcium and vitamin D that they badly need, but avoiding the high fat levels. Looking at our current child obesity epidemic, that is the last thing they need!

Milk, even the fatty part of it contains a multitude of nutrients and you continue with it until your child is at least 13. As a child is always growing then they will not get fat. As growth slows down then they could fatten up a little. A proper diet should stop that happening. That means no junk food and fatty sugary stuff. Giving semi skimmed to soon could effect their development.

Yes it is fine. Full cream milk contains too much fat fort them and semi skimmed has enough to satisfy their requirements. The big benefit in milk is calcium which helps the development of teeth and bones and there is no difference in the different milk types in this respect.

Despite what the media says and what health "experts" say milk isn't suppose to be drunk after a child is out of infancy. This is the nature state of the world. Animals won't let there young have milk anymore after they reach a certain age even if they still want it. Anyway, Animal's milk is never good for a human child, just think about it for a second. It's a fluid that comes out of a animal which in America's case(assuming it's cows milk) is likely very sick. The milk has to be pumped full of chemicals to make it so that it won't kill you to drink.

I agree with KalTar. I'm not a baby cow. Therefore, I do not need cow's milk. Also, there are plenty of countries/cultures who consume little animal milk and are quite healthy.
The link is one of several I have found with similar information/advice. In addtion to that, milk is laced with antibiotics, pesticides, and God knows what else the poor cows are exposed to in their tiny stalls.
I choose to not give my children dairy or meat. My first child, with whom I am pregnant, will very likely not have any diary in her childhood. She certainly isn't getting any during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Only if they are over 5 years old.
Children under 5 should stay on full fat milk.
Talk to your local health visitor about it!

It all depends on whether you want them to have the fat really?
My older children have it, it still has the same amount of calcium in it.

Yes, so long as you don't cut out fat from the rest of their diet.
