An excellent philosophical, and psychological way of conducting one's life.
Buddhists are the most peaceful people I have ever known. They seek to continuously cultivate Altruism, Patience, Loving-kindness, inner Peace, and they genuinely accept all people, without holding any prejudices, or ill-thoughts/feelings toward other people. Most Buddhists are very Humble! There has never been a war in the name of Buddhism, because Buddhists within their faiths, take the precept of "Do No Harm to any Sentient Beings" Quite seriously. And at the same time, they appear to me, not to take life way too seriously, as I have often tended to do. They are relaxed, calm and patient people, even in the face of harm and difficulties and challenges in life !
I highly respect Buddhists and ALL the Buddhists faiths/traditions in the world.
*Thanks a lot for giving me the opportunity to provide you with an answer to your most excellent question.
*Have a great week, and coming weekend.

Buddhism is, in some degree an atheist 'faith', in that The Buddha is not a personal God in the same way that the Jewish/Christian/Muslim God is....
I would have thought that you could happily accept Buddhist teachings if you were an atheist. However, like any religion, there are many different forms of Buddhism - but in general, you could argue that there was no God as such in Buddhism.

Most atheists that I know don't think anything of the Buddhist faith, since Buddhists are inoffensive, haven't started any major wars, and generally are keeping quiet and to themselves. Atheists would consider them misguided, but very nice people.

As a atheist of a sorts i would say most atheists are like wiccan's, each to there own, or maybe better all people are free to believe in whatever they want, or to not believe if they so chose. Far as i know Catholics are the only religion that threatens all other religions.

Buddhism is the nearest to atheism - IE no god
Buddhism has more to offer in the methods it uses to understand the world and how humans can survive in it.

used to think it was ok(only cos its followers were nice and didnt go warring and flag burning at every opportunity). but looking deeper it has the some similar superstitious supernatural aspects as all the others and the clergy(i know) abuse their power as much as any priest ive ever heard of.

I think that it is just as wrong as any other religion as a faith.
As a collection of meditation techniques, and as a slightly screwed up philosophy it is OK.
I can not accept the deist aspect of it, or the concept of reincarnation,(whether as a human or a bug).
