Hey Summermoondancer, wrongo buddy. No, the U.S. is not the only country with different religions and races...you obviously don't get out much. See these unfounded responses are what make everyone look bad. Right next to you is Canada - considered the most multi-cultured and respectful of cultures overall. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (which was founded by our first brothers there) even allowed a turban to be work in full uniform instead of the tradional stetson hat. My own husband, who is American, noticed the first thing when he went up there the diverse cultures and the actual freedom for them to live it. American is a melting pot (you know what the means, it means everyone is melted together and you lose your heritage). Canadians each practice their own religion and races, freely and co-exist peacefully. Britain is the same way, so is Australia, etc... Be careful what argument you use, because there will always be someone to refute it. By the way, for the record, not all Americans are viewed as selfish, stupid, and racist....just the ones who don't travel outside their own country!

Yes it could be an example of why the world thinks that but honestly I think Americans are just very proud and patriotic people which often gets misconstrued as arrogance.
And of course they are fed a lot of propoganda through the media which in turn makes them believe their own hype. Turn on any American news channel and if its not happening in America or about America, its not reported, much less cared about!
Its also amazing how many Americans do not even own a passport. I think it would do most Americans the world of good to get out of the states and see some of the rest of the planet!
Personally I do not think they are stupid, racist or selfish. I think that SOME people of ALL nationalities are stupid, racist and/or selfish. Its the way of the world.

Roy have you ever been to the US? To say that we are all racist is simply stupid. The country is the only one that is made up of every nationality and ethnicity in the world as well as every religion. Yes, there are racists here and sometimes it is very obvious because of the loud debates from idiotic fools however, let's talk about how the aborigonies and muslims are treated in Australia...how about we talk about how the Jews were treated in Germany...we can also talk about how muslims were treated in Yugoslavia..shall we continue?

Who knows, who cares? Americans don't care what the rest of the world thinks, which is obvious since Americans create websites such as Yahoo and the Internet Movie Database and allow snobs from all over the world to have a medium to openly criticize us.

No, the world thinks we are selfish stupid and racist because...

We visit other countries and expect everyone to speak english.
We invade any country we feel like and make up stupid reasons to do it.
We support Israel simply because they are the people of the Bible (even though they are in the wrong)
We consider money the answer to everything.
Our media is constantly broadcasting stupid comments about africans, mexicans, middle-eastern, etc.
We consider Americans superior to everyone else.
We can do anything we want because we have bigger guns.

Not all Americans are racist! For the most part realistic. That's why other countries are so critical of us. You have to know who is doing the talking, in light of the fact most of them are from dictatorships and socialist countires. If we are that bad, maybe we can fix our own economy, by not giving any of them not one thin dime. We have done more to help all of them than the other way around. Ingrates and ungrateful! Check the UN record.

America does control what goes on in the world and speaking as an American I'm glad its us and could care less what any other nation thinks about us.Human nature is survival of the fittest and the strong shall rule if it weren't us it would be some other country.

Ah the joy of critique.

The answer of course is most Americans don't care one whit what other [countries] think. Which is [I believe] more irritating then having Americans disagree with them.

What truly amazes me is the mentality. Why would you assume most of us [Americans] would want to listen to another countries opinion anyway.

Who cares what everyone else thinks of America!
First of all, many people call America all of these names because they want to be like us! They wish they could have as much money as us; as much freedom as us; as much riches as us; as much intelligence as us; as much technology as us; as much access to education as us; and as much power as us!!
Secondly, America allows as many immigrants to our country as all others combined (allowing them access to all we have to offer)! So, please tell me again how selfish and racist America is?
Thirdly, if America is so selfish and racist, why do people from every one of your (who ever calls the US racist and selfish) countries want to come here so bad?
Stop hating on the US and fix whatever it is thats wrong with all of your countries, suckers!!

Wanna know what I think of the majority of Americans? Arrogant beyond belief!! Americans seem to think the universe ends at the east and west coasts and any of them who do realize that there are other countries in the world just see them as places to go on "vacation"
I read a reply on a forum on the International Movie Data Base that included the line, "Well, this IS America..." and I looked around and thought what? It is? How did I get to America so fast. Last time I checked I was in Ireland.
