Are we so apatheic that the government has become brazenly corrupt, or are Americans so stupid that the government and media control us?

Can you provide examples of this corruption and control?

Or are you defining 'corruption' as: 'disagrees with your political opinions?'

I would say it's a combination of both. We've become apathetic because we see politicians from one side ranting against the policies of the other, yet nothing constructive gets done. Of the 535 combined Representatives and Senators, I would bet less than 100 have the guts to stand up for what is best for the country over their back yard. The rest are pandering to keep themselves in the D.C. lifestyle, waiting on their fat, government pensions. The media isn't helping things, either. All outlets are polarized and use the instant-gratification, scandal-loving, 24/7 world we live in to get ratings and spin to the political ideology of their leanings (i.e. Air America vs. Rush Limbaugh).

Tons of corruption. and it will continue unfortunately. But I think that americans feel powerless. They feel as if their opinions will not count and therefore have become apathetic. Remember how all those votes were not counted in Florida during W's first election, when he ran against Gore? People are like" hey I voted, a ton of us voted and our votes were thrown out.. so why bother..they are gonna do what they want anyways". To be honest, Bush has his own agenda and does not care about the american people so that is why people are apathetic. This was was just a big money make for Bush and Cheney but it cost the americans so much more and we've lost over 3K lives already.

Americans, actually, are pretty clean when it comes to corruption. (Unless you're a Chicagoan ;) ) Right, corruption as compared to what exactly? There are some ways and practices that the general public does not accept, about our government and bureaucracy. The way it functions, is that it is susceptible to some flaw, which one might call corruption. Just one example is lobbying, is it corruption? No, it is not, as it actually provides vital information to out decision makers, but many lay citizens do not understand this (and I'm not going to explain detailed lobbying here) phenomenon, and thus label it corruption. Now, getting back to my earlier question, corruption as compared to what exactly? UK? France? Poland (ex-communist)? Romania (ex-communist also)? Russia? North Vietnam? You need to specify what corruption, and where (ex. what branch) you are talking about.

Americans must stop corruption in government by exposing those involved in media or filing of appropriate charges in court if necessary. Be not afraid of those in power and justice must apply to all.

I'd rather watch Everybody Loves Raymond then read the news while eating my BigMac in my Hummer on the way to Walmart to shop for more Coca-Cola!
