I take verapamil for a heart rhythm problem and my doctor just put me on vytorin to lower cholesterol and triglycerides. There is a warning on the label about mixing the two drugs. So far I haven't found out "why or what" to look out for. Can anyone help?

Also, have experienced some periods of extreme sleepiness while taking this type of medication. This is regardless of how much restful sleep gotten. Is this normal? Will it change after taking the medicine for a longer period of time?

The incidence of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis (usually attributed to Vytorin, and statins in general) is increased with simultaneous use of verapamil.

With regard to what to look out for, basically muscle pain and aches -- other than that, lab tests are used for diagnosis, such as serum CPK and urine myoglobin
