My dog recently broke her leg, she is only 4 months old and the vet says her bone isn't growing back together, this was after a month. he suggested we amputate her leg, but after her operation she spent a month there and if I amputate her leg it would be all be for nothing. So I am desperately trying to save her leg. Please help. If there is some form of calcium or something I can give her to speed up her bone growing back together, I would really like to save her leg.

I think you should be buying a dog's wheelchair at this moment. My dog had been through the same thing.

light in different colors has different wave lengths, yellow is the best for bone healing, use a yellow bandage/cast or even just wrap it up with a yellow cloth. it doesn't really matter if you "believe" in this or not, it doesn't hurt to try, does it? (you know how being in a completely red room affects you differently as being in let's say a completely green room....it's kind of the same thing...)
my cat hat the same problem, the bone only started growing back together when i had a yellow cast put on....
give it a shot. like i said, if it doesn't help, it won't hurt either!
of course you could also take step further and shine yellow light on her leg several / as many times a day as possible... ( yellow plastic or cloth works too) in front of a normal light/light bulb, flashlight)

Unfortunantly if you a good vet and he says it needs to be amputated it is probably your only option...You could get another vet's opinion too....High quality dog food with a high percent of calcium...My vet recommended Iams or Science Diet.....Another thing to consider is that dogs adapt very quickly to not having that extra limb...They can and will still live a normal happy life and will learn quickly how to run, jump, and everything else dogs do without that leg......Get another vet's opinion and if they say the same thing I would do what the vet recommends..Otherwise he/she may end up with a limb that is useless and prevents them from doing the things he/she wants to (ie...running, jumping, ect.)

Good luck with your dog!!!

I have recently put my 4 month old puppy on natural dog food from a store that specializes in it in my town. The owner had alot of information for me about bone growth. Maybe call a store that specializes in organic or natural foods that also sells dog food. Good luck

Belinda, I can see that you would like to save the leg but that dog doesn't care. Dogs adjust so easily to moving on three legs and she won't be in pain anymore. Being a responsible "parent" whether to a fur baby or human baby, is a not about what we want it is about what is best for the "baby". Good Luck to you -

my dog broke his leg some years ago and the vet mended it by placing a small metal rod against the bone and wrapping the leg tightly. suggest something similar to you vet.

Reiki, which is energy healing, will help tremendously. Check with a Unity or Unitarian church nearby and see if they have any Reiki practioners in their congregation that work with animals. Don't delay. Blessings!

You don't need to speed it up because if it grow back to quickly it might grow back crooked. rushing things would be a lot worst
