"God has many invaluable things in His stores. You ask Him for paltry and insignificant things because you do not know what precious gifts He can bestow upon you. There is no dearth of anything in His store. Therefore, you should not ask God for anything in specific. When the time is ripe, He will give you what is best for you. God knows and acts appropriately, based on the right time, place and situation. That is why you find sometimes that He Himself comes and gives you things unasked. It is therefore very difficult to understand God. An ignoramus, who fails to understand this principle, often misinterprets it. "

Assuage:
Main Entry: as·suage
Pronunciation: &-'swAj also -'swAzh or -'swäzh
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): as·suaged; as·suag·ing
Etymology: Middle English aswagen, from Anglo-French asuager, from Vulgar Latin *assuaviare, from Latin ad- + suavis sweet -- more at SWEET
1 : to lessen the intensity of (something that pains or distresses) : EASE
2 : PACIFY, QUIET
3 : to put an end to by satisfying : APPEASE, QUENCH
Can a religious activity or perspective (praising) ease distress or pain or hunger? :) It probably won't hurt.
Now, if you mean, will God reward me by ending my poverty if I praise, will God stop punishing me with poverty if I am more devote, ... I am guessing you are Christian, because of the language of your question. You might find Mark 10:17-31 and Matthew 8:20 helpful in your journey.

Not unless praising the examiner, rather than answering his questions, earns you more marks.
Many people innocently think that God is pleased and cares to listen to our praises. Obviously, this would conflict with an omniscient God, for we are then assessing God with our human sentiments. The truth is that it matters little if you praise God from now till eternity, if you do not go out there to find work, you will have nothing to eat.
Invariably, correct prayer involves doing the right thing at the right time.

No it can't... If they sold the Vatican and other useless Cathedrals and lavish Churches and Temples and Mosques.. I am talking about all mainstream religious houses.. The monies then could be used to end all poverty Worldwide... Then you could all worship in my "Church",in the great outdoors with nature...The way it used to be, the way it is supposed to be... This will never happen because of GREED and blind faith... Love and Light ..BB.. )O(
