Hi, I was wondering if any of you ever used this stuff? I've been through a few different inks and I just heard about this brand.... it seems like everybody's heard of it through the show Miami Ink... but I don't want a brand of ink just cuz some guys on a tv show use it, even though their stuff comes out pretty good... it might not be the only ink brand they use... so I'm not gonna buy based on that... Also, I've been doing pretty deep good black outlines with Pelikan ink and I was considering buying some of that Kuro Sumi stuff... is that any better?..... just askin before I spend loads of money on inks that don't work......

I do know that the guys at my shop LOVE the Kuro Sumi for black, and they buy quite a bit of it. One of the more experienced artists likes the skin candy ink, but the other guys do not. He seems to have more of a problem with people being allergic to the Skin Candy reds, if that helps at all. I do know that when Chris Garver was up, he uses Skin Candy, too, and the colors heal with a little more "patina" for lack of a better term. Not like the "pop" that the new school designs need to have, but more of an old-school sort of hue.

Skin candy is something that is VERY debatable.
For instance they got a bunch of complains when after having their ink used on miami ink the consumers buying it found it was a complelet y different ink than what was on TV. The stuff on TV is thick and the actual product is wateredd down. Try Phat Cat Kolor from Bicknee tattoo supply (http://www.bickneetattoosupply.com) The quality is exceptional and it is used by many of the inustrys top artists.

Pelican is good for black and grey becaus eof its fading qualities. NEVER use it for outlkining because it heals out to a grey. Talens is an ink specifically for lining. Black is a colour that you need several different type for several different effects. Kuro sumi is a good black and will pack well for the right artist but phat cats' is blacker in the skin and you cna see every tiny skip. Money should not be the issue when it comes to your clients. You want to get paid for the best you need to use the best. Using cheap substandard inks will not give you good results and using cheap inks can also affect the customers.

What worries me about your question is if you are qualified enough to understand the difference. The word "deep" should never be seen in a sentance involving a tattoo except in a bad way. If you aren't a professional please get some training and leave this job to those who are.

i really think u should be doing your own research on this, look on the net and make sure u get to know if the ink has the right health regulations e.t.c.
the ink i use here in Europe is tested in labs in Germany and nowadays also has an expire date on it.
i imagine these people on Miami ink are getting paid to promote the ink you mention, doesn't mean they use it !!
