I believe I have a fever blister coming up on my lip. It is swollen, red and looks blistery. I have been keeping Carmex on it so far. I have been searching through here and have read several Q&A on fever blisters. My question is...some of the answers say keep it dry while others say put ointments on it, which is better?

I am a frequent fever blister sufferer and the thing that works the best for me is ICE! I get an ice cube and put it against the area and hold it there just as long as I can. I repeat that as long as I can. The fever blister will probably still surface but I have found that if I ice it before it gets really bad, it doesn't get as big and it doesn't last as long.
Good luck....I hate those things
