1 Thess 4:15 “.. we that are alive..shall IN NO WISE PRECEDE THEM that are fallen asleep.”

4:16 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;” (..coz those who were dead not in Christ will be raised after the 1000years (Rev 20:5-15)).

4:17 “then we that are alive, that are left, shall TOGETHER WITH THEM be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

There is no way the living saints will go ahead in heaven with the dead saints..or the other way around. All will enter heaven in one God’s appointed time.

Except for Enoch, Elijah, & Moses, God considers all who died as in the state of “sleep”..’coz someday God will raise them again for eternal life (I Thess 4:16). Is that day already happened? Did God descended from heaven already? With a shout? With the voice of the archangel? Definitely, this will be a magnificent event in the human history..but it didn’t come yet.

You cant find any verse from the whole Bible that any godly saints are in heaven now, except the three names mentioned above. Even King David didn’t went up to heaven as of this time (Acts 2:29).

So, how will you ask for intercessory prayer to the dead saints if there are not yet in heaven? Or still “sleeping” in the grave? That is why you CANT FIND any verse that a LIVING PERSON prays to a DEAD SAINT.

But then you CAN FIND LIVING PERSON DOING INTERCESSORY PRAYERS..and God approves that..and those verses also were what the other Answerers used to prove their claim..but I think they need to read your question again. They must notice the capslock thing. They might find verses that will support their belief from books like Tobith, Macabees..etc..but that's not from the Bible. That's one reason why God did not allow those books to be included coz it will contradict the other books of the Bible.

Praying/talking to the dead is a doctrine/activity of pagans, voodooists, wiccans..its a witchcraft thing. God of course abhors it.

When God created man, there were only two ‘components’: dust and breath of life..the result is a LIVING SOUL. So logically, when one dies..godly or ungodly..his breathe/spirit will be taken and body will return to dust..the result, a ‘sleeping’ soul.

There are lots of meanings of the word ‘spirit’ in the Bible. One must use the proper meaning of the word ‘spirit’ for each context to avoid confusion.

The Saints are Alive. Mark 12:27 he's not the God of the ineffective, yet of the living. You as a result do a great deal err. there's a differance between "Mediator" and "Intercessor". Prayer on the behalf of others is with the aid of the bible. Acts 8:24 And Simon spoke back, "Pray for me to the Lord, that not something of what you have mentioned might bump into me." 1Timothy 2:a million I prefer as a result, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men: The bible tells us the Prayer of a Righteous individual does plenty. Who extra Righteous than the mummy of God and the Saints? Proverbs 15:29 The Lord is plenty from the depraved: and he will hear the prayers of the purely. James 5:sixteen Confess as a result your sins one to a distinctive: and pray one for yet another, which you would be saved. For the persistent prayer of a purely guy availeth plenty. Revelations 8:4 And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up till now God from the hand of the angel. Peace be with you <<>>

Here the Lord speaks to the prophet Jeremiah, and plainly refers to the great old testament saints: Moses and Samuel.

He mentions both of them standing before him, asking for mercy on behalf of Israel, but there will be no mercy this time.

Jer 15:1 And the Lord said to me: If Moses and Samuel shall stand before me, my soul is not towards this people: cast them out from my sight, and let them go forth.

The inference here is that God has respect for Moses and Samuel, and he has granted numerous intercessory petitions at their behest, in the past.

If God holds Moses and Samuel in such high regard, then what are we to think about John the Baptist, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the apostles, etc.?

All the saints are of God, and all those in heaven do the will of the Lord.

It is foolish to believe that God does not give power and authority to those in heaven, especially in light of the promises he makes to all those who overcome the world, through him.

Rev 2:26 And he that shall overcome and keep my words unto the end, I will give him power over the nations.

Rev 3:21 To him that shall overcome, I will give to sit with me in my throne: as I also have overcome and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Both of the above verses indicate a position of rulership and power in God's kingdom, and as any good Christian knows, God expects us to freely share the gifts he gives us, with the needy.

Those in heaven have no unmet needs, while the people here on earth are still contending for their salvation, and need all the help they can get.

It is only proper to look to those who have already obtained salvation in Christ, to help us obtain our own, especially when many of those heavenly souls may in fact be our own "blood" relatives.

This is not a Biblical verse, but food for thought: The English Jesuits martyred in the Gunpowder Plot had made a pilgrimmage in the summer of 1605 to St. Winifred's (Caradoc) in Wales, specifically to cure cancer of one of the priests and afflictions affecting some of the laity. Said Jesuits centuries later were beatified, and their previous superiors in England (there illegally according to the crown) would later be canonized.

I have the ability to talk directly to GOD through Christ finished work on the cross. Why would I go to anyone else? That's just silly.

1Cr 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Once you have seen GOD and know in full I cant see where prayer would do any good. If you could make intercession for those in the spiritual realm then Satan would be saved. The demons believe GOD and fear him.

Dear Friend,

Nowhere in Gods word the bible does it teache that we should pray to Saints. The Bible commands us to worship only God, and to pray only to him, through Jesus Christ.

The scriptures that our brother has mentioned above are mainly the Apostle Paul who is asking his followers to petition God on his behalf, but not to pray to any saint.

In fact consider this

Acts 14:14But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: 15"Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them. 16In the past, he let all nations go their own way. 17Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy." 18Even with these words, they had difficulty keeping the crowd from sacrificing to them.

We should pray only to God through Jesus.

God Bless

Romans 15:30
Col 4:3, Thess 5:25
2Th 1:11
2Th 3:1
Eph 6:18-19
Tob 12:12
Rev 5:8

Also see:

Mark 12: 26-27
Mk 9:4 (this one is where Jesus talks to Elijah and Moses)
Lk 23:43
Rev 6:9-11 (Martyrs under alter asking for vindication)
Heb 12:1
Lk 16:19-30
Rev 20:4 (John sees souls of those beheaded)

There is Biblical Basis for Communion of Saints.

Would someone please explain just one verse to me...in the "Transfiguration" of Jesus Christ on Mt Tabor in Mark 9:4 where He is seen conversing with Elijah and Moses, both mortal men who had lived thousands of years earlier and had descended from heaven to council with Him?

I'm sorry if it doesn't fit your theology but there are Biblical examples of people on earth having interaction with Saints having passed on to God.

P.S. ADDITION

It has been some hours since posting but I just felt it necessary to share an email I received from another "Poster" here on this question:

From: JD

Subject: hi

Message: u r trying to lead people to hell. No dead person intercedes for true believers, it is Jesus Christ who intercedes for us :

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," '1 Timothy 2:5'

See the word 'one mediator' , in other Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and men, no one else, praying to saints is a sin (idolatry).-

"You shall have no other gods before [a] me.
You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments." 'Exodus 20:3-4'

Response #1. It seems extreme to accuse me of trying to "lead people to Hell". Quite to contrary. I am trying to clear muddy water. I've said many times, you're right "Dead People" don't. But scripture says, "My God is not the God of the Dead, but of the Living" The Church Triumphant, those who have "Died in Christ" are more alive than you and I.

Point #2, We also believe Jesus Christ IS THE ONLY WAY to the FATHER. "To the FATHER" Intercession by the Saints and fellow Christians is directed to Jesus, such as the example of Mary interceeding to her Son at the Wedding at Cana. But again it is by and through Jesus to the FATHER.

Point #3, We all agree there is one God consisting of the Holy Trinity of God, the Father; God, the Son; and God, the Holy Spirit; the three divine persons of the One True God and He alone is to be worshipped.

If you would stop receiving and believing your false teaching and conducted a genuine research study project of Catholicism, the truth of what it really is would probably shock you.

I truly believe you DO NOT Hate Catholicism....You hate what you Think Catholicism is.
