First off, No, it is not right.
Second, if it's something you truly want to do, get the courts involved, although I understand how much money is involved there. I think you are taking a decent step in asking here.
Broaden your search - Google her, her family, and you may find out something. When you do, IF you know for sure that the child is yours, you can also contact the police in her area, and explain that it's basically kidnapping. However, I am not sure of the legal steps, I'm just making a suggestion - please don't hold me to it.

At long last here in the UK Fathers rights have started to be reconised.
