why do they give me a weird look? These are the regular people I meet at the gym.

I don't have any friends, so I drink about 2 nights per week. I can't socialize well.

I don't want to tell them I have no friends, because I don't wanna make them feel guilty.

Why do they give me a weird look? What's wrong with drinking alone?

they are probably giving you weird looks, because drinking alone is one of the symptoms of being an alcoholic. i'm sorry you don't have friends to socialize with, but you might try at least going to a bar to drink so that you are at least in the company of others.

To many people now days make it seem so taboo to drink alone .. There is nothing wrong with drinking alone .. And when you get a weird look .. Look at them back .. And having an anti- social personality is not bad … normally .. People who do need to do the bar scene float around until you find one that you have a small comfort zone within … once you visit enough you start to become a social butterfly .. Well at least that is what I had to do.. Now I’m the wild child on the bar singing lol “blushes”

I drank alone all the time, I didn't want company to get drunk with.

You may quit drinking. Try attending some AA meetings. meet some people who have stopped.

Drinking alone is one of the major symptoms of alcoholism. So as such most people probably don't admit to it as you so readily do, and that explains why you get such weird looks. Of course that is not to say that you are an alcoholic because it really does depend on how drinking affects your life.

do you mean alone at home or alone in a bar? i know why people drink but i don't understand.
drinking to most people is a social thing, drinking alone is just sad to them. and they consider you an outcast a.k.a weird. anything outside the social norm is weird.
