i'm not saying this is going to be good for your hair... but here's what i've learned from my experiences with bleaching.
1. you have to leave it on waaay longer than the box says
2. you can observe the color change - it will go from red -> red orange -> orange -> brassy -> yellow, etc etc. it will NOT lighten anymore when you wash it out so know that when you call it quits that will be the color you are getting.
3. deep condition after!! i usually use aussies 3 minute miracle and it helps a lot.
4. if you can afford it just got to a professional and have them do it for you!

I dyed my hair black a long time ago and i bleached it out it turned my hair really blonde cause i left it on there as long as it took to get it blonde. Go to a beauty supply store and they should be able to recommend something for you to use :) Hope this helps

Hair bleach will turn any hair color into white / blond .
Dont leave the bleach in longer then the recomended time as breakages occur and scalp can be burnt. be sure to use a hair mask afrerwards to resture moisture as bleeching dries your hair out.

There are products out there that remove artificial color without
bleaching. Check out the local Beauty supply house. Bleaching is not the best way to do it.

I understand you do not desire to visit a salon, however with hair that has been dyed plenty, you have got the threat of getting inexperienced hair when you check out it at dwelling. Hair dye is filled with competencies chemical reactions.

. you should try to see if you can avoid bleach. i bleached my hair and it was hot but it ruined my hair, fried it. if you must do bleach it may take a few times to get it blonde. but its easier to go lighter from darker because blonde hair has no pigment and therefore is difficult to dye.

I tried doing it myself and mine turned orangish blonde. I later told my stylist who explained that most store bought blondes have red tones in them, and mixed with the red tones I already had it turned it orange. I now go and have her do my coloring and highlights, very pleased with the professional way verses store bought box.........
