I think your co-worker is jealous or he might have a crush on you and do not want to see you and your casul boyfriend go further then it already is. It is up to you if you want the relationship to go further.

He likes you. If he is willing to attempt getting his feelings hurt just to be with you casually, while you are with someone else casually, he has strong feelings for you.
You need to think about some things.
Do you have feelings for your current casual relationship? Or is it just a sex/company thing. If you do, consider the consequences if you get caught.
Do you think you might have feelings for the new casual relationship? If so maybe you should be a good girlfriend and get rid of the first boyfriend first. This shows the new boyfriend you are willing to start a real relationship with him.
Do you not have feelings for either and just want to have casual sex with them both? If this is the case then you need to make sure the second guy knows exactly where you stand. So he is not just waiting around in case something better comes around for him.

I think he likes you, BUT I must say you are really being unfair to your "casual" boyfriend. I have a feeling that he is completely unaware that he is not a serious boyfriend to you. If he is, I have a feeling that he secretly hopes that you'll grow to like him more. All this time you're keeping him from other women who might actually love him. So . . . break up with him and let him move on to other women, and find yourself a boyfriend who you actually like. Good night!
Oh yeah . . . I almost forgot to say why I think he likes you. Well, when you mentioned your casual boyfriend and the other guy made negative comments, it is a possible sign that he wants to break you two up. Just a thought . . . .

His comment seems to me to be more about you than your 'casual' boyfriend. He doesn't know that boyfriend but he works with you. He's not trying to break you up or discourage you. He's just commenting on what he perceives to be your attitude.
Find out a lot about him before you even start wondering if he likes you. If he has a girlfriend, a fiance or a wife, then he's trouble. Big time. If he's interested in you, dating casually himself and really unattached, then things look a little more promising!

I believe he likes you... although it's hard to tell by judging just from this one particular incident. If you intend to go further, break up with your old bf first, that's the respectable thing to do; don't play both ends, that always ends up hurting people.
