If you put cloves on the affected area it numbs the pain for a bit. They stink and taste horrible, but they do work and they're natural. You should also take a painkiller of some sort.

If you are in pain do not waste time searching for a local NHS dentists, while you're doing this it could be getting worse and cause longer term problems. Call NHS direct now, they will get you an appointment with an emergency nhs dentist who can usually see you the next day, they will also help you find a local dentists.
In fact if you look on the NHS direct website they usually have a list of dentists in your areas who are taking on nhs patients.

Bonjela.. not good, one thing most people don't realise is it's very high in alcohol. On advice from a pharmacist in the same situation they told me to take Codeine and Ibuprofin, but ask one yourself for the best treatment for you, Tescos staff are usually wonderful, even helping me with a glass of water to take them when my tooth was in pain.

Call nhs direct now though, I wasted time and my infection has lasted a week and I'm still in pain and on so many tablets, faster action on my part might have saved me a lot of pain.

You can buy temporary fillings at most chemists but they only last a dayor so and you can use clove oil to ease the toothache. I would not wait until you find an NHS dentist - is it worth sufering to save money? Also, if you do not get it attended to you are likely to develop an abscess.

Go to the chemist and ask for a suitable painkiller for toothache, though Ibuprofen or similar is usually enough, depending on the severity. Also, get clove oil from a chemist and dab this directly on the area as this is an age old remedy for toothache. You could also add a few drops to a mouthwash, swirl and then rinse your mouth with this. Choose a mouthwash that is suitable for oral surgery, mouth condtions such as Corsodyl - not a ordinary one. Good luck.

It is a little expensive but it works wonders!

Oil of cloves at the chemist. It may give temporary relief, but be careful it could burn the gums. I wouldn't take painkillers as you may have to have an anaesthetic when you get to the dentist.
Good luck

You could try oil of cloves, available from the chemists. Supposedly if you rub it on the tooth it can help temporarily. But be careful not to rub too much onto your gums as it can burn.
You could try taking paracetamol or nurofen, but you should really get to a dentist as soon as possible.

Try Clove Oil available at most CVS's. It's a little bottle of food seasoning (mint flavor). It sounds weird, but it works.
