If with a partner then don't eat too much that you'll just want to sleep afterwards, make sure you have room for "afters".
And don't watch a movie that will make you sad or depressed, or a really long one.
Get some chocolates in and something nice to drink. Get the heating on as well so it's cozy, draw all the curtains and turn your mobile off.
Have fun.

Nothing that demands too much effort. Rather than a fire or candles, make sure the thermostat's set to your perfect temperature. Order delivery - don't lift a finger. Get your most comfortable blanket (and your favorite person if applicable). Put on something comfy. Rub each others backs (or cuddle up on your favorite chair) as you watch a really mindless entertaining movie (or movies). For dessert, I suggest delicious seasonal candy (cadbury mini eggs, perhaps...) Take a long hot bath and let yourself fall in bed. Add any other activity you enjoy...

I have found that nothing beats chilling out in your living room, dim lights and wathching a good film or listening to good music. I always like to have a glass of Blossom Hill Rose wine or hot chocolate mixed with Baileys which calms me down. If you are an alcoholic, I suggest orange juice will be more suitable for your pallette and better for your liver!
