I live in memphis tn and I have one reverse light out. was wondering if I would pass inspection because I was told it would take 200 to fix and my tag expired feb

no, all light have to be working to pass a state inspection. Are you sure it's not just the bulb that needs to be change. Mine was out and the bulb was like $2 and I did it myself

Geesh $200! Every state has different inspection laws, and they change them every year. Every inspector has a different opinion of what will pass/fail. You may be able to find a .gov site that shows the laws for your state. If it proves to be in your favor, print it out and show it to the inspector. Some states only require one reverse lamp to work, but if the lens is busted, you fail. Another option is to try another shop, ask if it will fail for that before you hand over your key.
