my child who has underwent heart surgery and has high pulmonary artry pressures is put on this medicin by the cardiologist

i think yeah it is a safe medicine
enalapril is angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor which is used for heart failure and recommended for hypertension when preferred first lines agent(diuretic or beta-blocker) are contraindicated or ineffective.
the enalapril lower blood pressure by reducing the peripheral vascular resistance without reflexively increasing the cardiac output,rate orcontractility.
so it recommended for hypertension patients who are white and young
the adverse effect of this drug include dry mouth, rash ,fever ,altered taste, and some time hypotension
