What I get for serving God is not the issue. I serve God as an act of love. I have been convinced that it pleases Him. It meets with His approval, I think.

I hope that His Spirit is with me in the answers I give.

Both, but primarily God. It's ok to also serve and look forward to what Jesus promised: That He went to prepare a place (mansions) for us. If God didn't want us to have Heaven as a goal to look forward to, He wouldn't have talked so much about Heaven in the Bible and given us this wonderful promise.

I am personally serving God because he commands me to. It then becomes in my best interest to continue to do so. Yes I am looking forward to heaven.

Your question implies that somehow God wouldn't know the difference. I think He does. Nevertheless, you nicely describe Satan's fatal error. As for my own "best" interests, they leave alot to speculation at times because like most people , I insist that I know what they are when in truth they're no more than a mere hunch. Silly human race, and all.

Some people do believe works will get them into heaven.
We who are in God serve to Glorify Him.

Obviously most Christians are serving their best interest which is why so many people are having kids without being married, cheating on their mates, being greedy, and treating others without respect. Most don't even go to church or read the bible. They pray only when they want something not just to praise God.

I am going to heaven, that is the reason I have been asked to serve.

Your own best interests of course.

I call these people the "Lord, Lord-ers" because of these verses about them:
Mt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mt 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mt 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Lu 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Lu 13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

Also they might be unprofitable servants:
Lu 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
Mt 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

God is the originator of the WIN-WIN system.

When you serve God and put his will first, you are always doing what's best for yourself, as well.

Perfect selflessness combined with perfect selfishness!

This seems to be the way christianity works. You are given the choice of either eternal happiness in heaven, but if you do not belive them and what they say you will burn forever in hell. Remember, they have the bible to back up what they say. And the bible is the word of god...?????
