Well, I am here after all. What I do is preach the Gospel, give an answer in the way that the Spirit of God leads me to. As much as I can. I do not try to divide, ie the homosexual witch hunts that continually happen, and just ignore what the sins that I might percieve that people have. To me that's between them and god.
The Gospel comes to mind when I want to show someone what God has for us. Not my judgemental attitude.

Realize that many people without faith base their thinking on what they think of as logic, reason and scientific evidence. They may assume that you base your view of reality on your emotions, not "real" evidence. This difference in "how I arrive at truth" makes it difficult to convert a committed atheist. It can make it difficult to even have a productive conversation at all.
So to "reach out", simply be open about your views about the universe and your place in it. Ask your new friend about their views. Try not to argue, just try to understand how they look at things, even if it doesn't seem sensible. Be a friend, and be a good example of a human being. Even if you fail to produce a believer, you will have built a bridge and this is good in and of itself.

Be real. Don't act as if you have the absolute truth and that God is a fact. My family ruined my chances of having any sort of faith in anything, especially God. Because they threw it down my throat and told me that it was the only way. I did research and found out that it was all a lie, now I'm a atheist because I am to much of a realist to believe in anything questionable. I am inbittered and whenever I hear the word faith I cringe and frown in anger and frustration.

Jude 1:21-23 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Hopefully love and compassion works, but sometimes there is just no other way but the "hellfire and brimstone" approach.

Leave us in peace. You've caused enough misery in the last 2000 years! Why not do something constructive for a change like working to save the people dying of genocide in Darfur, Sudan?

That would be very simple actually ...... Just prove that God existed..... if you can do that, chances are more .... very much more people will believe.
