Ideally:
Avoid too much sunlight.
Use safe lotions with moisturizers and sun protection (SPF15 and up)
Eat fruits and vegetables more of vitamin E
Avoid irritating substances
Here are some other tips that can help prevent skin rashes:
* Use neutral soaps and cleansers and wear gloves to protect the hands when washing dishes.
* Limit the use of new types of cosmetics or lotions.
* Practice relaxation methods such as yoga or meditation to avoid the stress and anxiety that aggravate many skin rashes (e.g., eczema, psoriasis).
*Limit the use of any skin products or laundry products that contain added fragrances.
*Refrain from exposing the skin to particularly hot or cold air.
*Use a humidifier to help control dry air and prevent drying the skin.
*Use moisturizers frequently to avoid drying out the skin.
*Prevent contracting a contagious rash, by frequently washing the hands and practicing good hygiene in general.
If with rashes:
* Avoid scrubbing your skin.
* Use as little soap as possible. Use gentle cleansers instead.
* Avoid applying cosmetic lotions or ointments directly on the rash.
* Use warm (not hot) water for cleaning. Pat dry, don't rub.
* Eliminate any newly added cosmetics or lotions.
* Leave the affected area exposed to the air as much as possible.
* Try calamine medicated lotion for poison ivy, oak, or sumac as well as other types of contact dermatitis.

Eat plenty of vegetables (all varieties available in the market) well cooked; include sufficient quantities of garlic, onions, ginger, jeera, ajwain, heeng, tamarind, turmeric etc in the cooked food; drink atleast 4 litres of water; and do pranayam/breathing exercises for an hour daily or in the alternative do meditation. Your face should start glowing with radiance and beauty in about 6 months. (No amount of cream can make you get a fairer skin than what you have inherited but of course rashes would disappear)

Wearing a high-SPF sunscreen absolutely all the time keeps your skin as light as it is naturally.
Hydroquinone is the active ingredient in lighteners, but there are questions about its safety.
You have to know what causes the rashes in order to avoid them.
