Funny, I live in the US pretty much right across from Sarnia in the Port Huron, Michigan area. I honestly don't know too much about Sarnia (grew up closer to the Detroit, Michigan/Windsor, Ontario area); seems to me that Sarnia is a fair-sized (but not too big), industrial/manufacturing area and the surrounding area becomes more rural (the same can sort of be said about the Port Huron area). The Port Huron area is known as the Bluewater region due to some nice views of Lake Huron and I'm sure that the region north of Sarnia would be the same. Port Huron (and I'm assuming Sarnia is the same) isn't a large city with lots of clubs, sporting events, museums, shopping etc. (although you can find all these things on both sides and the Sarnia region also seems to have the casino, horse racing, etc.) and is about an hour north of the larger metropolitan Detroit, Michigan/Windsor,Ontario area which offers more in way of recreational choices. Anyhow, feel free to e-mail/message me if you think I can be of any more help and, if you decide to visit to Port Huron area too (bring your passport and/or other i.d.), I'd be happy to show you around here if I'm available.
