The files I am trying to play are .mpg files and only Windows Media Player 11 can't play them with sound, but I can see the video. I can hear and see the files if I play them with Zoom Player. Also when I click on a video on my SBC Yahoo! homepage, a separate window is brought up and when the video is done buffering, it also plays, but without sound. I think that the AT&T Yahoo! Player (the name on the top of my window when I click on a video file on my homepage) uses Windows Media Player 11 so the problem might be related.

go in control pannel and open sound and audio diveces and it should say some thing beside the little speaker if it says no audio diveces then you need to re install the audio drivers if it does see if the volume is turned up or muted

This problem is absolutely local.
This is something like this:
** In some windows folder all the dlls are saved. there may be a problem in one of your audio dll file. these are known as Codecs.
** Reinstalling windows media player will do it.
** If you downloaded this file from net, try redownloading.
** I had the same problem. RealPlayer will surely play it with sound. The sound codec may be lame.dll
or lame_enc.dll or some other.
