I personally would go with a crankbait, its something you can get better and better at and can be used all year round.

Don't know who made it because I found it hooked in the mouth of a dead 5 pound largemouth.
It's a medium spinnerbait and has black fade to green fade to chartreuse tails with 2 chartreuse/silver blades. I've ran that thing up and down in 50 different spots with several types of Berkeley Powerbaits as well as no bait at all and have more fish on it than can count.
Biggest fish I caught on it was a 19 pound Sheepshead at the Matabetchewan Hydro Plant. Biggest largemouth was 7.17lbs.out of Lake Temiskaming, Ontario, biggest smalley was 6.4 lbs. out of Lady Evelyn Smoothwater, Ontario. Even landed a 14 pound Northern Pike and a 4.5 lb. Walleye on the sucker.
I even have a special container for it and treat it like my best buddy. LOL

Crankbait would be hard to beat.
My choice would be a 7.5" Original Culprit worm in Crawdad color and a variety of weights, hooks and jigheads to fish it with. The black with gold pearl in them just seems to work season after season and their "kicking" tail has just the right action for dead sticking or swimming. They have the best colors selection of all soft plastic around.

I agree with the crankbait. That is what I have caught the most fish on and I love the violent strikes that it brings.

A blue and black jig with a black Uncle Josh pork rind. Season after season, year after year this is the best all round lure I have found. It is the most productive and can be fished so many ways and in so many situations........there is nothing more versatile.

Great question. It made me think for a while. A black and blue jig, paired with a zoom super chunk trailer. Blue Sapphire. I catch fish all year on it. Most versatile lure made.

When I stopped tournament fishing 10 years ago,I needed a fishing partner. I picked my wife, showed her how to fish small plastics on light lead heads with ultralight gear. Pretty darn good way to catch fish all the time, inexpensive and it couldn't be easier to use.

a zoom super fluke. 1. it can be fish fast top water style in open water and in heavy cover like grass, hydrilla, coontail etc... 2. you can slow it down and fish mid depth regions. 3. you can dead stick it and fish it like a worm. 4 and most importantly it catches alot of bass. also a great bait for schooling bass.

I would have to say Top Water Zara Spook and the reason is because I can catch more fish and bigger fish to fill my freezer during the Summer months. GURANTEED

I would pick a black buzz bait. I love the way a bass strikes those. The explode at them!
