Isn't the title just by itself a boast of their superiority to other Christian sects? No one is qualified to make such a judgement because being "chosen" is entirely part of God's decision and grace and not something you can determine or earn through your own efforts and works, however right you think they are.

Do you think the early Christian Jew were committing blasphemy and the sin of pride by claiming to their Brethren Jews some 2000 years ago to be the new chosen people of God?

Do you think the early Israelites were committing blasphemy and the sin of pride by claiming to the rest of the world some 4000 years ago to be the new chosen people of God?

Perhaps history is repeating itself and three equals perfection.

When you examine Bible history and look at how the true God accomplished his purpose what did he use? For example, how many arks where there? Five? Ten? A thousand? Nope, just one. How many Messiahs? One. How many Bibles are there? One. It is logical to believe there is one way that God wants to be worshiped. The problem seems to be that humans think they can worship however they want, that sounds arrogant and prideful to me. Jehovah's Witnesses strive to worship Jehovah in a way that pleases him. If anything, that would make them humble.

In order to identify the true religion, there are some things you need to look for. If your religion is doing all of these things, then congratulations, you are pleasing God. If not...??

What is funny is that the name of God has such an importance with this cult and yet they do not realize that this was not the name of the Hebrew Deity, it was Yahweh. There is not even a J in the Hebrew language.
Every Christian sect has claimed to have a corner market on the 'truth'. Don't you think that if God were to reveal himself he would have made it so clear that there would be no dissension?
This is the fundamental flaw of Christianity. And don't you think it is also pride to think that Christians as a whole are the chosen ones as opposed to Muslims, Buddhists etc...

That is up to each individual's own heart, and this is something that we cannot judge properly, so we are forbidden to make these kinds of judgements (for only God can do this).

As for being chosen, well they would have to be young, male, virgin, and Jews to be a part of that 144,000 if that is what you are referring to. They can claim it all they want to, but that does not make it so. Also, presumably those 144,000 will be sinners, left behind at the rapture. At some point they recognize that God is their Messiah and come to life as a witness that Jesus Christ is Lord. Apparently they all get their heads chopped off for their witness, so it won't be fun and games.

They do make many claims of pride, and blasphemy might come in at other points in their religion. Especially the part about rejecting God as their Messiah.

I personally do not see myself as "chosen". I do feel that my beliefs are chosen ones of Jehovah and that by striving to follow his policies I am certainly helping to develop a good relationship with Him.

Jehovah God put his name upon us by allowing honest hearted Christians who were earnestly seeking him in truth to realize that is what we were to be called, Acts 15:14 Symeon has related thoroughly how God for the first time turned his attention to the nations to take out of them a people for his name. Isaiah 43:10 "You are my witnesses," is the utterance of Jehovah, "even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that you may know and have faith in me, and that you may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none." God's Holy Spirit is operating on Jehovah's Witnesses to gather out of the earth all honest hearted ones who truly want to serve God with a complete heart. Our name is Biblical, it is from the Scriptures, and we are the only ones truly adhering to God's word so as to do his will, Jehovah is the one instructing us through his Son, Jesus Christ, who is the head of the congregation. 1 Corinthians 1:31 that it may be just as it is written: "He that boasts, let him boast in Jehovah" The Scriptures show that God would chose who his witnesses would be not man, we did not chose the name for ourselves, Jehovah God chose us by showing us what we were to be called, setting us apart from everyone else as his people. Not all of Jehovah's Witnesses go to heaven, only 144,000 anointed of God do, the rest will live on earth in paradise for all eternity. God will not allow anyone not to have a chance to gain salvation, all are given the same opportunity to gain everlasting life. There is much more to understand then I could possibly write down, that is why we go looking for honest hearted ones with which to conduct Bible studies, we are fulfilling the commision Jesus gave to us, go therefore and make disciples of all men, teaching them the things I commanded you.

It is no sin to ~say~ you are "ABC," if you indeed ~are~ "ABC." The Jews were not sinning when they claimed to be the chosen people of God. They were (and some might argue that the still are chosen).

Implicit within belonging to a sect is the belief that it is better than all other sects. Otherwise, why would one belong to that particular sect?

It's possible to be loyal to a religion without believing that it is necessarily the best of all possible religions, but it's almost never done.

Can you call being proud to be a loser pride?

According to the JW only 144,000 are going to make it.

That means the vast number are chosen to be unchosen.

I don't know how they can be the 144,000 when they are not even Jewish. Revelation 7:9. Says that every nation is judged from the multitude. Usurping Israel's place is sort of uncalled for.
