I'm a little confused about the time difference now. We set the clocks forward a week ago, and when I went to call my friend at the appointed time, I was an hour too early! (I had assumed, incorrectly, that he had set his clock forward also.)

There is always a 9 hour time difference between US (Pacific time) and Italy. But now there is an 8 hour time diff! Are they going to change their clocks sometime soon or what? I am confused.

Listen, I wasn't trying to make a political statement here; I just wanted to know what time I should call my friend. Relax, guys!

Because there isn't an agreement among the US and EU.

Eu will change clocks this coming week-end, but the US keep a different schedule, in part because not all the states are changing, but only some... oh well.

If you think it is uncomfortable, imagine how bad it is for airlines!!! they have to review the whole time-table, what a headache.

Actually the 2002 Federal Energy Conservation Act mandated that daylight savings time begin 3 weeks earlier and end one week later this year than it has in the past. A similar law went into effect simultaneously in Canada. The model law was not adopted in Europe.

usually the us changes there time in april and and a week before that europe already changed there time.
This year Dumb Dumb BUSH thought we would conserve energy if it would be ligher longer at night. EU keeped the same schedule and now we only have 5 hours difference until next month.

Daylight Saving Time is not universal. Many countries don't use it.

I don't know whether Italy uses any sort of schedule on Daylight time but chances are that it wouldn't be the U-S schedule.
