Although less serious than skin cancer, age spots sun damage are of concern because they can potentially add years to your complexion. Removing age spots is an effective way of reversing the effects of sun damage on your skin.
Age spots sun damage are easily treatable given some patience and time. Here are some tips you can use for removing age spots.
If you haven't done so already, begin using a daily sunscreen or a moisturizer with at least SPF 15. This will help prevent the formation of new age spots sun damage.
Fade creams with hydroquinone are widely used for the removing age spots. Most creams contain a 2% concentration of hydroquinone which is safe and effective for removing age spots. The only draw back to using a fade cream is that results typically take several months. However, with patience and consistency you'll be able to erase any signs of sun damage with very little money.
Another route you can take in removing age spots is via a visit to your doctor. Your doctor can suggest several treatments for age spots sun damage. This includes chemical peels, topical creams, and laser resurfacing. All of which have varying costs, downtimes, and results.

Vaseline just came out with Healthy Hand and Nail.
It has Alpha Hydorxy, Keratin, Vitamin E, and is supposed to reduce the appearance of spots and lines on your hands. The tube (have some) says: "In 4 weeks diminishes the appearance of age spots, fine lines, and wrinkles, with regular use."
I've found in general that any anti-aging lotion that is meant for the face and neck can also be used effectively on the back of your hands. RoC facial resurfacing cream would be my next recommendation (works wonders) but it's expensive.

You should read Laura Jefferson’s book "Skin Whitening At Home" ( I saw it's also available in electronic format +video: http://www.skinwhiteningathome.com ). After 8 weeks I managed to get my skin a few tones whiter and I also got rid of freckles.
The method she teaches in her book is natural, inexpensive, and is readily available in most homes. You could even find some ingredients in your own backyard. The most wonderful thing about the method she shares in her book is that it will help you whiten or lighten your skin pigmentations, freckles, age spots, acne marks, dark underarms, melasma, or your overall skin color easily and naturally without breaking your bank or producing dangerous side effects. Good Luck!

The newest treatment for age spots is alpha hydroxy acid gel and beta hydroxy acid gel. The gel is applied to the spots each night. This will lighten discoloration of the skin such as freckles, age spots and pigmentation that may occur in pregnancy or from the use of oral contraceptives. Another treatment for age spots is Retin-A. Retin-A cream is applied to the spots once a day for six months.
