I am not trying to sound conceited. I just want to know if other intelligent people experience what I experience. Do you ever feel like you are so far above everyone around you (in intelligence) that you just want to go crazy? I am one of the nicest, friendliest, most helpful people I know, and it has been reported that I am the go-to person to have problems solved. But so many times in my head I am helping someone and just can't wait for them to go away. I hate feeling fake, because honestly I dont' care for them, and I dont' want them around.

My co-workers drive me crazy because they seem to lack so much knowlege. Even people who are higher up in the company than me come to me for so much help. I know I am at fault for not moving up when I should have, but how/why are they? I just don't get it - can anyone relate?

Why say you don't like people who are like that? Like what? I can't help that genes put me in a good spot, and then I chose to increase my knowlege and understanding in life. Like I said, I'm not rude to you. I don't attempt to make you feel bad. I will teach people the same procedure 78 times, if that's what it takes. I actually enjoy that. What I don't enjoy is having to listen to their life stories and about all their problems that they refuse to change. I can only take someone who whines about something for so long - if you are not going to focus on the solution, then I don't want to hear about it (over and over). The best way to get them to walk away is to ask, "And what are you going to do to change it?"

On the flip side, they sometimes end up crying for longer and pointing out more of their faults to justify why they won't take responsibility for themselves.

yes, i can...my dad gets mad at me though and wants to know when i got my degree in whatever...because he hates it when i know more than him which is all the time. seriously though, i do understand how you feel...i was told i was a genius...but i dont believe it...i dont feel like one. but i wonder why things that are so clear or so logical are so hard for people to figure out. my mom is always getting after me for being impatient with peoples "slowness"...and yet, i am slow myself. go figure. its like i have a super sharp brain thats a tad slow. i am 37 now, but when i was 3 yrs old i died for 4 minutes of aspirin overdose. dont know if that helped or hindered me, lol.

I can sort of but just because you are more intelligent then most people (or at least feel you are) is no reason to hate them. Not everyone can be as smart as you. If you don't want to give people advice because their problems annoy you then just don't, make something up and people will stop coming to you. It's better for them to get advice from someone who cares then then from some who just wants to say anything to make them go away. And if less intelligent people annoy you what are you doing on this site anyway.

I felt like that a lot when my classmates would always ask me for help on their homework. I think what it is more than anything is the fact that they know I'm going to help them, and they kind of take it for granted. Your personality sounds like mine: you're a nice guy, but you find it hard to tell people exactly how you feel when something is bothering you.

It might help if you start sharing with them that you feel imposed upon when they keep coming to you with their problems, and that you are a little too busy or tired or need some space right now. That way they know that you're getting frazzled. And hopefully once they back off you can get to know your coworkers better outside of them asking you for help, and you'll feel less annoyed by them.

I do not consider myself an intelligent person, but I am an expert on one field of study.

In my line of work there are a lot of people seeking for help and I have to be nice to them when I am helping them, but sometimes I also get irritated when the answers to their questions can be solved by simply using their common sense.

So, yes, I can relate. I do not want to be fake, so what I do is I tell them upfront that I am not in a jolly mood today so expect some rudeness on my part.

Ever wonder why everyone is always knocking at your door for assistance. Perhaps because they know they can get someone else to do their work for them. Seems to me it takes a smarter person to get some one else to do their work for them while having that person (that would be you) take away the belief they are more intelligent than everyone else. Don't forget your Seven Deadly Sins, especially that Pride one, since it has just taken a giant bite out of your ***. I don't know how old you are, but since wisdom comes with age I'd guess you are very young. Shouldn't assume everyone thinks you are the smartest just because you're the one they asked for help. Unless your I.Q. is above 125 you are probably no more intelligent than the next average person out there.

genius syndrome? Fortunately, you're also blessed with enough intelligence to find a solution for this, too. Think about it...
