how do i take a video recording from a cassette and get it onto my laptop?? i dont want to buy any cables or so cause its just this one time, please someone give me an easy answer! i have a video memory card i borrowed from a friend but i dont even know if its compatible with my video camera...

You need to have either USB or Firewire connecting from your video to you PC/laptop. a software is require to convert from analog signal into digital signal (software usually comes with the video cam). install this software in to your computer.
memory card has nothing to do with video files, it only take still picture. (some video camera do not support memory card especially the older one)

Your q is confusing.If your recording is on a cassette than you have to have a capture card theres no two way of it but if it is on memory card than you only need a card reader and transfer to your pc. There is other way ( since this only one off) that is to bring to a shop that can do conversion of video casstte to vcd format. Hope these are useful.

If you all ready have an usb cord on your lap top to interface something else, you can use it. If not, you may be able to borrow one from a friend. The camera should be marked as to what kind of card it uses. Generally, if the card is the size of the camera's card socket, it will work.
